HVAC Mechanic

Job Overview LB&B Associates, Inc. provides services to federal and state government, Fortune 500 companies, and commercial firms, requiring skilled personnel. Position: Full‑time HVAC Mechanic Location: Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Charlotte, NC. Working Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; may require on‑call, evening, or weekend work as needed. Key Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and perform necessary repairs. Carry out routine preventive maintenance to ensure operational efficiency. Monitor and adjust building automation (BAS) systems to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality. Respond promptly to service calls and work orders and resolve HVAC‑related issues in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations, safety codes, and building standards. Assist with installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment as needed. Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations. Follow all workplace safety procedures and use PPE as required. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 5–10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities. High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred. EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) – required. North Carolina HVAC License H1 or H2 – or Master HVAC License – required. OSHA 10 or 30 certification – preferred. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical operations. Experience with building automation systems (BAS). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills. Physical Requirements Lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions. Work may involve on‑call, evening, or weekend hours as needed.
