Pay Rate: $24.27/hour
Schedule: 3:00pm - 11:30pm, Monday - Friday

Job Description

We are hiring an experienced Miller/Compunder to join our production team in Taunton, MA. This position involves operating and monitoring production equipment, mixing and blending materials, screening finished material, milling products into sheets, recording production data, and maintaining quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow work orders and customer specifications closely.

Responsibilities

• Observe production processes and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to verify that machinery is operating properly.
• Record operational and production data on required forms.
• Follow work orders carefully to ensure compliance with customer specifications and established processes.
• Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas using moving equipment and hand tools.
• Examine materials, ingredients, and products visually and by touch to ensure they meet established standards.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and determine when additional maintenance is needed.
• Identify causes of operating errors and troubleshoot problems to correct them.
• Follow all Workplace Safety Guidelines and company policies.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Mixing and Compound Blending

• Produce master batches for specific work orders.
• Accurately measure and add specified materials to mixing machinery and equipment.
• Start and monitor mixing equipment for the required time.
• Transfer finished material from the mixing bowl into lined buckets or plastic bags.
• Properly identify and label each batch according to procedure.
• Fully clean the mixing machine and equipment between different jobs.
• Submit the required number of properly labeled samples from each batch to QA/QC for testing.

Screening

• Load preformed material blocks into the screening machine and run the required cycle.
• Monitor material as it moves through the screen.
• Cut material to the required lengths while the machine is running.
• Weigh cut pieces and make adjustments as needed to meet weight specifications.
• Wrap finished pieces in plastic and apply the correct labels.
• Load completed material onto racks.

Milling

• Prepare formulation slabs, identify them correctly, and submit them to QA/QC for testing.
• Weigh individual materials according to the required batch size and Mill Room Formula sheet.
• Feed material blocks through rolling cylinders.
• Add remaining materials and repeatedly guide, cut, and turn the material as it mills.
• Cut the finished material into thin sheets.
• Place completed sheets on racks for transfer to extrusion.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience is required.
• Ability to follow detailed work orders, formulas, and production procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to monitor machinery and recognize operating issues.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
• Ability to accurately measure, weigh, label, and record materials.
• Ability to work safely while wearing required PPE.
• Willingness to work the assigned shift and overtime as needed.
