POLICE OFFICER 2

The Police Officer 2 position at Delgado Community College provides public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting, and enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations. Requirements One year of law enforcement experience. Active Louisiana Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Certification. Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university substitutes for one year of the required experience. Minimum age of 18 years. Current Louisiana driver’s license. Applicants with a felony conviction or pending felony indictment are disqualified until relief is granted. Job Duties Patrol campus areas on foot and in vehicles to maintain a safe and secure environment. Respond promptly to calls for assistance, emergencies, suspicious activity, and safety concerns. Enforce state laws, traffic regulations, and college policies, including issuing warnings and citations when appropriate. Conduct investigations of incidents, accidents, and reported criminal activity, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Prepare accurate reports and documentation related to incidents, investigations, and daily activities. Provide security services such as building and parking lot checks, classroom security, and safety escorts upon request. Assist individuals in emergency situations by rendering first aid and coordinating medical or emergency response services. Monitor campus traffic and promote safe driving practices throughout campus property. Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers, emergency personnel, and outside law enforcement agencies as needed. Position Specific Details Appointment Type: Probational Compensation: Special Entrance Rate of $19.88 per hour. Location: Must be available to work at all Delgado Community College locations and shifts as needed.
