CNA/PCA Burn Unit - Day shift

Responsibilities This role works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Duties include constant observation of patients, notifying nursing personnel of changes, intervening as needed to maintain safety, communicating effectively with co‑workers, patients, families and visitors, and performing all functions delegated by the nurse staff while adhering to policies and procedures. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Work Experience Required – 3 months of personal care experience in a home or clinical setting (e.g., providing sitter‑type services, performing personal care in a nursing home, skilled nursing, or hospital setting; experience with bathing, oral care and personal hygiene). Preferred – Hospital and telemetry experience. Certifications Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire. Preferred – Current state of practice Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to individuals at varying levels throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). Job Duties Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skill verification. Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multidisciplinary teams. Completes documentation of patient related tasks. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, appropriate introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical & Environmental Demands Medium Work – May require lifting or moving objects from 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. Duties may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues. Employees working in patient care areas are at occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste.
