Software Development Engineer, Silicon Infrastructure

Salary: $143,400 - 143,400 per year Requirements:

• We expect 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• We expect 2+ years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• We expect hands-on programming experience in at least one software language.
• We expect 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and systems engineering.
• We expect a solid understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, including networking, storage, and operating systems.
• We expect experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
• We expect a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent background.
• We prefer 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• We prefer experience writing production-quality, maintainable code in modern languages such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• We prefer experience using AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK.
• We prefer experience with Linux or Unix.
• We prefer experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• We prefer experience with HPC clusters using workload schedulers such as Slurm.
• We prefer familiarity with semiconductor development workflows or electronic design automation environments.
• We prefer experience building services with AWS products.
• We prefer experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
• We prefer experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management at scale.

• We partner with silicon design, verification, emulation, and software teams to understand workflows, pain points, and iteration cycles.
• We build tooling and automation that reduces manual effort and shortens time to results.
• We gather ongoing feedback from internal customers and iterate quickly on solutions.
• We benchmark infrastructure against silicon development workflows to provide the right compute resources for internal teams.
• We design, implement, and operate cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing clusters using schedulers such as Slurm.
• We create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure as code and service deployments, including testing and safe rollback capabilities.
• We own platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency from initial design through production operations.
• We develop monitoring, diagnostics, and alerting systems that provide insight into efficiency, utilization, reliability, and cost trends.
• We establish incident response processes, runbooks, and documentation that support operational excellence.
• We anticipate system failures and put preventive measures in place to reduce operational toil and improve resilience.
• We investigate anomalies in job completion rates and resource utilization patterns.
• We collaborate with design verification teams to improve regression workflows and remove bottlenecks.
• We build tools that simplify infrastructure access for emulation teams.
• We contribute to monitoring dashboards that provide real-time visibility into development velocity.
• We participate in design reviews and postmortems, write code, review infrastructure-as-code changes, and work across teams that rely on our systems.
