Rail Terminal Automotive Supervisor

PRS Auto is hiring immediately for a Railroad Automotive Supervisor to join our team working at the CSX West Columbia, SC auto facility in a recession‑proof industry! This is a full‑time permanent entry‑level position and no experience is required as we’ll teach you everything you need to know to be successful on the job. This is an essential job and you’ll have the opportunity to work for the #1 intermodal contractor in the United States. You will be employed directly by PRS Auto and will not be considered an employee of the Railroad. The schedule and rate will be discussed during the interview. Applicants must currently live within a 1‑hour commute of the business location. Out‑of‑area candidates and/or those requiring relocation will not be considered. Job Summary The Automotive Yard Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the terminal’s operations to ensure that the retention of service levels satisfies the customer’s requirements. This person will take direction from policies and procedures established by the Company, Vice Presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, Directors, Assistant Terminal Managers, and Terminal Managers. Essential Job Responsibilities Oversees the scheduling and coordination of the automotive activities of the terminal, including ramping and de‑ramping of automobiles based on fluctuation of business‑level needs. Assures that personnel meets the performance levels of productivity goals and maintains acceptable service levels based on company standards. Assists in the company’s safety policies by upholding a high standard for all employees. Monitors the handling of vehicles in a cost‑effective manner while meeting customer service standards. Determines manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned. Directs customer contact ensuring all customer requirements are met and the security of all operations is confined within the railyard. Maintains consistent daily contact with Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver’s license. Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on‑the‑job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience (preferred but not required). Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co‑workers. Proven managerial skills, including strong leadership and positive motivation, successful employee training, a good understanding of a collective bargaining agreement, government regulations, and industry standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals. Benefits Medical benefits start after 60 days and the first of the month thereafter.
