Mechanical Design EngineerThe Mechanical Design Engineer's primary responsibility is to design the mechanical structure and perform thermal calculations of environmental test chambers to customer's specifications. The Mechanical Design Engineer works closely with the production department as well as the product, manufacturing, refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical engineers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilize Solidworks, PTC Creo, and AutoCAD in chamber designGenerate drawings for submittal to customers, vendors, and productionGenerate chamber BOMs for release to productionWorks with production to assure manufacturability and to recommend improvements in design, cost, and qualityEffectively presents information to customers, vendors, and productionAdditional responsibilities as determined by the Engineering ManagerQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum of 2-5 years' experience working in an industrial product manufacturing environment (or equivalent)Knowledge of sheet metal design requiredKnowledge of structural steel weldment design is a plusExperience in refrigeration theory, thermodynamics, and heat transfer is a plusComputer SkillsStrong computer related skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAutoCAD experience is a plusSolidworks experience requiredPTC Creo experience is a plusFamiliarity with PDM systems is a plusExperience using ERP systems – SAP is a plusLeadership SkillsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to manage time while simultaneously handle multiple tasks and projectsReasoning AbilityDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsMechanical and mathematical aptitudeAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw proper conclusionsWorking ConditionsPeriodic stationary work with frequent movement throughout the facility to access chambers, files, office machinery, etc. Works at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Use of hands to hold, lift and handle materials. Occasional climbing, bending and squatting.
