Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse supports patient‑centered care in the general surgery, plastics and urology outpatient clinic. The RPN acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized, systematic, and individualized care to patients including assisting with minor procedures, cystoscopy, patient education, post‑operative follow‑up, wound care and consultation. The RPN also advocates for patients and families. Provide patient education and support. Advocate for patients and families within a multidisciplinary team. Participate in specialized, systematic, and individualized patient care. Qualifications Current Certificate of General Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS‑HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request Minimum one (1) year recent general surgical experience Successful completion of a Pharmacology course Recent experience in an Ambulatory Clinic preferred Previous experience in Bariatric Surgery preferred Ability to practice to full competency Demonstrated computer proficiency with Cerner, HUGO, PACS Clinical Systems Demonstrated knowledge of general surgical nursing principle Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload Demonstrated commitment to the achievement of goals and objectives in patient care Demonstrated proven problem solving, critical thinking and decision‑making skills Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis Legal and Human Resources Statements All new hires must provide documentation related to LHSC's Health Review requirements.
