Private family in Greenwich Village seeks a highly proactive, organized, and detail-oriented Part-Time Household /Family Assistant to provide hands-on support within their busy, fully staffed household. The Household Assistant will work closely with the principal and her remote assistant, managing day-to-day household details including organization, light housekeeping, errands, inventory, vendor coordination, and general family support.

The household operates much like a small business, with established systems and a collaborative team. The ideal candidate is energetic, resourceful, tech-savvy, and comfortable working within an existing staff structure. They should take initiative and complete tasks promptly while exercising sound judgment, following established systems, and respecting household boundaries.

This role follows a schedule of Monday through Friday, approximately 12pm–5pm (approx. 25 hours per week), with flexibility for occasional extra hours for household events or other family needs. The position is based primarily in New York City, with occasional day trips to the family's Hamptons residence during the summer to assist with preparation and stocking.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as hands-on support for the principal and independently manage day-to-day household tasks
• Run errands, returns, exchanges, pickups, grocery shopping, and other time-sensitive requests
• Order household supplies and maintain pantry and household inventory
• Receive packages, put items away, prepare groceries for storage, and assist with light tidying
• Maintain established organizational systems throughout closets, pantry, household storage, and four storage units
• Assist with improving organizational systems when specifically requested
• Identify household maintenance needs, coordinate vendors, and track recurring services and deep-cleaning schedules
• Assist with household appointments and communicate with the chef and broader household team as needed
• Use Slack and Notion to remain aligned on household schedules, procedures, tasks, and activity
• Participate in household check-ins and planning meetings
• Assist with family travel preparation and occasional Hamptons residence setup and stocking
• Provide occasional light care for the family's small dog
• Collaborate effectively with household staff and handle additional family-related requests as needed

Requirements:

• Previous private household, Family Assistant, Personal Assistant, or House Management experience
• Strong English communication skills and excellent references
• Highly proactive, organized, efficient, responsive, and detail-oriented
• Strong follow-through with the ability to recognize needs and complete time-sensitive tasks promptly
• Excellent judgment and ability to balance independent initiative with following established household preferences
• Collaborative and comfortable working within a busy, multi-staff household
• Strong technology skills; experience with Slack and Notion preferred
• High level of discretion, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and confidentiality
• Spanish-speaking is a plus
• Comfortable working around young children and a small dog
• Flexibility for occasional schedule adjustments and Hamptons day trips
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation: $40/hour, flexibility for the right candidate commensurate with experience and qualifications
