Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial reporting, general ledger activities, and month-end close processes while ensuring compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills and experience in the healthcare industry, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and collaboration across departments. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is based in the West Loop office.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Coordinate and lead the month-end and year-end close processes
• Analyze revenue cycles, patient billing, collections, and third-party reimbursements
• Collaborate with billing, coding, and clinical departments to ensure accurate financial data
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
• Provide support for the month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting needs of the organization as directed.
• Assistwith bi-weekly payroll review, processing and analysis
• Research and respond to questions and provide account analysis on GL account and financial statements line-item fluctuations.
• Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Assist with audits, both internal and external, by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Assists in the preparation of periodic miscellaneous reports and analysis for senior leaders
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Systems Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
• CPA or working towards CPA certification
• Familiarity with financial reporting and forecasting tools
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical, mathematics, process and systems knowledge
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP is required.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 depending upon the candidate’s skills and experience.
