Registered Nurse - Family Medicine - Ramona

Job Summary Under supervision, uses the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act to assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions. Makes preliminary observations and prepares patients for medical treatment. The RN is responsible for the on‑site care of patients and for evaluating and renewing prescription refill requests by following established prescription renewal protocols and processes. The RN may need to cover for clinical nurses to provide direct patient care, including administration of medications and immunizations, performing nursing procedures, patient education, triage services and care management, patient assessment and education, and arranging necessary appointments and referrals. This position also works closely with physicians, obtains patient consent, ensures confidentiality, documents health history, chief complaints, vital signs, health risk factors, assesses disease condition, inputs all patient information into the electronic medical record, assists physicians with treatments and examinations, and administers or dispenses prescribed treatment and medications. The RN charts treatment, records progress, counsels patients and families, maintains complete records, and evaluates and renews prescription refill requests following protocols. The RN attends departmental meetings as needed and serves as a resource for Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other Registered Nurses. Job Requirements Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree Minimum Experience: 1 year of directly related RN experience Preferred Experience: 2+ years of directly related RN experience Required License: Current CA RN License Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider Language: Ability to speak and read English at a level sufficient to perform essential functions Computer Skills: Knowledge of standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e‑mail). Proficient keyboarding, mouse use, drop‑down menus, scroll bars, folder navigation, copying and other operations required upon employment or within the first two weeks.
