Athletics Coach

The purpose of this position is to instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the students shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, sportsmanship and service to others.

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree, CPR certification, previous successful coaching experience, ability to organize and supervise all levels of a sport program, commitment to professional growth, ability to accept responsibilities outside the team as they relate to the school and community, ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job functions include complying with school and MIAA policies and regulations, working cooperatively with the school staff, relating positively to parents and other community representatives, completing required records and reports with promptness and accuracy, assuming responsibility for care of equipment and facilities, assuming responsibility for a safe environment for student athletes, modeling positive behaviors, especially with regard to sportsmanship and the alcohol, tobacco and drug rules, delegating staff assignments to assistant coaches, developing and organizing practice program, evaluating assistant coaches and playing personnel, planning and developing game responsibilities, conducting and analyzing scouting reports, assisting student athletes in college advancement, maintaining and inventories all equipment and supplies, acting as liaison person in relating the athletic program to the staff, administration, general public, and local news media, and responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as needed.

Physical requirements include ability to operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and all other standard office equipment, ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, sufficient mobility to navigate within a large and small school building, practice facilities, weight room, and regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
