R&D Operations Manager (Chemicals / Polymers)


Location: Northern New Jersey (Onsite)


Full-time, onsite (Monday-Friday)


Overview
A growing, privately held chemical manufacturing company is seeking an experienced R&D Operations Manager to lead laboratory operations and drive product innovation. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to executive leadership, with ownership over R&D, quality control, and product commercialization.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead R&D efforts including new product development and formulation improvements
• Oversee lab operations, QC, and scale-up into manufacturing
• Manage and mentor a small technical team
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, suppliers, and customers
• Support technical discussions with clients and contribute to product recommendations
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety protocols
• Drive product commercialization and continuous innovation

Qualifications

• 6 years of experience in chemical R&D , preferably in adhesives or polymer formulations
• Experience with epoxies, urethanes, acrylics, silicones, or similar materials
• Background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field
• Proven ability to scale formulations into manufacturing
• Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach
