AWS Developer

Contract to hire position with a major investment firm. Hybrid in Newark, NJ Responsibilities Deliver high‑quality database administration services to Application/Developer teams, including provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Amazon Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DocumentDB databases using CloudFormation templates and Terraform. Develop infrastructure as code for provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of Amazon Redshift, DocumentDB, and Aurora PostgreSQL databases according to best practices. Must have experience with IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform. Proficiency in scripting with Python, AWS Lambda, and Step Functions. Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and minimize downtime; deep understanding of database concepts and experience with Redshift, DocumentDB, Aurora PostgreSQL required. Optimize database performance through query tuning, index optimization, and database schema refinement. Experience with monitoring and logging tools, particularly AWS CloudWatch, is a must. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database‑related issues and incidents. Develop and implement high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions; experience in administering, managing, and optimizing databases like Redshift, DocumentDB, and Aurora PostgreSQL. Use CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins to provision databases and develop solutions for developer self‑service. Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference. Qualifications 3–5+ years of experience working with AWS cloud services, including database administration and infrastructure development. Hands‑on experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure. In‑depth knowledge of Amazon Redshift, DocumentDB, and Aurora PostgreSQL administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with internal teams. Skills in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high‑availability setups.
