Job Description

Job Title: Microscope Deburrer Job Description

This role focuses on precision deburring, knifing, and buffing of small- to medium-sized medical components under a microscope in a second-operations environment. You will sit at a dedicated workstation for most of the day, working with micro hand tools to remove burrs, refine edges, and ensure each part meets strict dimensional and quality standards. The position is ideal for someone with a background in medical deburring who is comfortable reading blueprints and performing detailed inspection work.

Responsibilities
  • Deburr small- to medium-sized medical parts using micro hand deburring tools, including knifing and buffing techniques.
  • Work under a microscope for extended periods, including potentially the entire shift, to perform detailed deburring and finishing operations.
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally to ensure they meet specified quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, tolerances, and critical features.
  • Use various micro hand deburring instruments to remove burrs and refine edges on precision components.
  • Assemble components by positioning, aligning, and connecting parts and subassemblies as needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at the workstation to support a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Adhere to established quality control standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally when handling parts, trays, or related materials.
  • Perform additional tasks and support other operations, including basic machine operation, as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with deburring small- to medium-sized parts, preferably in a medical or precision manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work under a microscope for long periods, including potentially the entire shift.
  • Proficiency in using small deburring tools and various micro hand deburring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to verify dimensional and feature requirements.
  • Skill in inspecting parts to ensure dimensional conformance and adherence to quality standards.
  • Comfort working in roles that include assembly, deburring, microscope work, and basic machine operation as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination for fine, precise work.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs in the course of daily tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • background in medical deburring or experience working on medical components.
  • Experience working in environments with aerospace, medical, and commercial products.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and procedures in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow housekeeping practices.
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks and support other operations when required.
Why Work Here?

You will work in a clean, organized, and professional manufacturing environment that emphasizes precision, quality, and consistency. The shop offers the stability and variety of a medium-sized operation, with exposure to diverse industries including aerospace, medical, and commercial work. You will have your own dedicated deburring station, collaborate closely with skilled colleagues, and develop specialized expertise in microscope-based precision work. The environment supports focus, craftsmanship, and long-term skill growth in a highly respected segment of manufacturing.

Work Environment

The role is based in one of the cleanest shops in the area, with a medium-sized facility of approximately 45 employees, many of whom are CNC Swiss machinists. You will work at your own deburring station, seated in a line with 3–4 co-workers at adjacent stations, performing microscope-based deburring for most of the shift. Standard production runs range from 2 to 500 parts, with occasional runs over 1,000 parts, so you may work on the same part for an extended period, sometimes up to a week. The work mix includes roughly 35% aerospace, 35% medical, and the remainder commercial business, including some military and electronics-related components. The environment is structured, clean, and quality-focused, with adherence to defined quality control standards and procedures and a strong emphasis on maintaining good housekeeping at each workstation. Dress expectations align with a clean, professional manufacturing setting suitable for precision work under a microscope.
