Basso Westport is a lively Italian-inspired gastropub located in the heart of Westport Plaza. Known for wood-fired pizzas, inventive cocktails, and a warm atmosphere, we pride ourselves on delivering memorable dining experiences. We’re looking for a friendly and professional Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests and help set the tone for their visit.
Job Overview
As a Host/Hostess , you’ll greet and seat guests, manage the flow of the dining room, and assist with front-of-house operations to ensure smooth service. This is a guest-facing role that requires professionalism, organization, and a welcoming attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and welcome guests warmly as they arrive
Manage seating charts and assign tables to balance guest flow and server sections
Monitor dining room activity to ensure efficient seating and turnover
Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and assist with reservations and takeout orders
Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and organizing the host stand
Support fellow team members with side work such as stocking, folding silverware, and light cleaning
Provide professional and timely communication with both guests and team members
Foster a positive, guest-first atmosphere by working collaboratively with servers, bartenders, and management
Qualifications & Skills
Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
Ability to handle conflict resolution in a professional manner
Team-oriented and willing to assist other departments as needed
Positive energy, professionalism, and attention to detail
Prior restaurant or hotel host/hostess experience preferred, but not required
High school diploma or equivalent
