Job Description Provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Responsibilities Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care for patients according to physician orders and policies. Use nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment and patient response. Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist nursing personnel and act as team leader or charge nurse as assigned. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and resources. Participate in professional development, maintain competencies, identify learning needs, and seek educational offerings. Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities. Perform other related duties as incidental to the work described herein. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the scope of registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and unlicensed staff; application of the nursing process; professional theory and practice; ability to assess nursing needs; resource seeking and collaboration; effective working relationships; clear communication with patients, families, healthcare teams, administrators, and leaders; teaching patients and families; sensory and cognitive processing; fine motor skills; BLS and other life support as designated; documentation and computer skills; navigation of clinical settings; endurance for prolonged standing and walking; focus and organization; procedures for administration of treatments; infection control; regulatory requirements; and pre‑employment physical capacity testing. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. RN without a BSN encouraged to enroll within two years, complete within seven years. Experience: Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience. Licenses and Certifications: Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina; BLS required.
