Forest Surveying and Mapping is a family-owned and operated land surveying firm that has proudly served Central Texas since 1955. We provide a wide range of professional surveying services, including mortgage surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, new construction staking, topographic surveys, subdivision platting, family partitions, commercial property surveys, and land development support. We pride ourselves on delivering accurate, reliable work and offering fast, free estimates to our clients.

Role Description

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Rodman / Survey Field Technician to join our field crew. In this role, you will work directly with our licensed surveyors and crew chief to complete high-quality surveys throughout Central Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the survey crew in the field by carrying and operating survey equipment (total stations, GPS, levels, prisms, etc.)
  • Set and recover property corners, place stakes and markers
  • Clear lines of sight and help maintain accurate measurements and field notes
  • Load/unload equipment, maintain vehicles and tools
  • Work safely in all weather conditions and varied terrain
  • Support multiple project types including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and subdivision surveys

Qualifications

  • Ability to safely handle and assist with survey equipment (tripods, levels, GPS, tapes, etc.)
  • Strong physical stamina — capable of walking long distances, carrying equipment, and working outdoors in heat, cold, and uneven terrain
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Reliable transportation to our Georgetown office and job sites
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a small team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in surveying, construction, or outdoor field work is preferred but not required — we are willing to train the right person
