Description:POSITION SUMMARY

Good Food Catering is seeking professional, energetic, and hospitality-focused Catering Bartenders to provide exceptional beverage service at weddings, corporate events, private parties, and other special events throughout the Charleston area.

Catering Bartenders work events at the Historic Rice Mill as well as a variety of off-site venues and private locations . Unlike a traditional restaurant bartending position, this role requires flexibility and the ability to efficiently set up, operate, and break down bars in a variety of event environments.

The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, comfortable working in a fast-paced event setting, and committed to providing polished and friendly service to every guest.

• Provide professional, friendly, and efficient beverage service during catered events.
• Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages according to event specifications.
• Follow established recipes, portion standards, and event bar menus.
• Engage with guests in a welcoming and professional manner.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing bar throughout the event.
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and provide responsible alcohol service.
• Verify identification when necessary and follow all applicable alcohol service requirements.
• Communicate professionally with guests, event managers, fellow team members, and venue staff.

• Assist with setting up bars at the Historic Rice Mill and off-site event locations.
• Stock bars with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and supplies according to event requirements.
• Ensure bar areas are fully prepared and guest-ready before the start of service.
• Replenish beverages, ice, glassware, and supplies throughout events.
• Break down and clean bar areas at the conclusion of events.
• Properly organize, pack, and return beverages, equipment, and supplies after off-site events.
• Assist with loading and unloading event supplies and equipment as needed.

• Review event details and instructions provided by the Catering or Service Manager.
• Follow event timelines, floor plans, bar assignments, and service standards.
• Work cooperatively with servers, captains, culinary staff, event managers, and other team members.
• Adapt to different venues, event styles, bar configurations, and guest counts.
• Assist with general event setup, service, and breakdown when needed.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor throughout each event.
• Represent Good Food Catering and the Historic Rice Mill positively when interacting with clients, guests, vendors, and venue partners.

• Follow all company policies and applicable South Carolina alcohol service regulations.
• Recognize signs of intoxication and communicate concerns promptly to event management.
• Maintain clean and sanitary bar areas and equipment.
• Follow safe practices when handling glassware, ice, equipment, and alcoholic beverages.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, guest concerns, or safety issues to a manager.

• Previous bartending experience preferred; catering, banquet, restaurant, or event experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and common cocktails.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of an event team.
• Ability to remain professional and organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow event-specific instructions and adapt to different locations and service styles.
• Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
• Reliable transportation to the Historic Rice Mill and off-site event locations throughout the Charleston area is required.

This is an event-based position with hours that vary according to the catering and event schedule. Candidates must have flexibility to work:

• Evenings
• Weekends
• Holidays
• Weddings and special events
• Events at the Historic Rice Mill
• Off-site events throughout the Charleston area

Shifts may include setup time before an event and breakdown and cleanup following the conclusion of guest service.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically throughout an event shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to safely lift and transport cases of beverages, ice, glassware, and bar equipment.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors depending on the event location and weather conditions.

Successful Catering Bartenders are dependable, polished, flexible, and team-oriented . Because every event and venue is different, this position requires someone who can arrive prepared, adapt quickly, work collaboratively, and provide the same high level of hospitality whether serving a wedding at the Historic Rice Mill or working a temporary bar at an off-site event.
