• Position: Part-Time Live-Out Housekeeper

About the Opportunity

A wonderful opportunity is available for an experienced, professional Housekeeper to join the long-term household staff of a very private, high-profile couple in McLean, Virginia. This is a peaceful, well-managed home where the principals genuinely value and respect their employees, many of whom remain with the family for years. The role involves a variety of household management tasks alongside traditional housekeeping duties, supporting the lady of the house and ensuring the home remains comfortable and well cared for.


The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, discreet, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful, welcoming home while anticipating the family's needs. This role works alongside an established household team that includes another part-time housekeeper, a full-time House Manager, a part-time chef, and full-time caregivers for one of the principals.

There is potential for additional hours and responsibilities for the right long-term candidate.

• Home Size: 13,000 Sq. Ft.
• Pets: One friendly dog, a Terrier
• Household Staff: part-time housekeeper, a full-time House Manager, a part-time chef, and full-time caregivers for one of the principals.

Absolute discretion is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). No photographs may be taken of the home, family, staff, or property, and absolutely no social media posts related to the household are permitted.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the home, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, and daily trash removal
• Change bedding, wash linens and neatly store in the linen closet linens. Iron Mrs.'s bed linens
• Handle laundry daily
• Organize and maintain linen closets
• Clean bathrooms thoroughly and maintain overall household cleanliness
• Organize and tidy the home, particularly after weekend family visits
• Arrange fresh flowers throughout the home to enhance the living environment
• Water indoor plants and maintain the birdbath with fresh water daily
• Replenish bird seed, suet, corn, peanuts, and peanut butter for local birds and wildlife
• Feed and walk the family dog (ideally 2-3 walks per day while on duty)
• Assist the Lady of the House with day-to-day household needs and upkeep
• Grocery shopping and pharmacy pick-ups as needed
• Occasionally drive the lady of the house to appointments if the House Manager is unavailable (using your own reliable vehicle with mileage reimbursement or the family's electric vehicle, if comfortable)
• Communicate and coordinate with the other part-time housekeeper to ensure daily and weekly household responsibilities are completed seamlessly and consistently, while maintaining continuity of care and organization throughout the home.

Ideal Candidate & Personality

The ideal candidate will be patient, organized, and able to work harmoniously within a household that includes family members, children, and 24/7 caregivers for the husband. Excellent English communication skills are essential, and knowledge of Spanish is a plus to facilitate communication with the other housekeeper. Someone who is extremely detail-oriented and takes pride in their work.


A genuine love for animals and an outgoing personality are highly valued. Flexibility to occasionally provide transportation for the lady of the house is also important.

Schedule

• Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
• Typical hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. , with flexibility for the right candidate.
• The household also employs a part-time housekeeper who works Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays . While you will generally work independently on your scheduled days, communication and coordination between both housekeepers is important to ensure the home runs seamlessly.
• There may be occasional schedule overlap for training, special projects, or household needs. The family is also open to adding a regular overlapping day for the right candidate who is interested in additional hours.

Position Requirements

• Previous private household housekeeping experience required
• Willingness to assist with pet care and outdoor maintenance tasks
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Excellent English communication skills required; Spanish language skills are a plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Safe and reliable car for transportation
• Comfortable driving either your own vehicle or the family's electric vehicle if needed for appointments

Compensation & Benefits

• $45-$50 per hour, depending on experience: Negotiable for an exceptional candidate
