Van Driver

A School Van Driver transports students safely to and from school, as well as to extracurricular activities and field trips. A School Van Driver ensures the well-being of students while maintaining a clean, well-maintained, and safe vehicle.

Essential Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid PA Driver's License and safe driving record
• Experience in driving a large vehicle or school van preferred
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position
• Bilingual and bicultural expertise is an asset

Essential Functions

• Safely drive a school van to pick up and drop off students at designed locations
• Follow prescribed routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals
• Maintain a high level of safety while driving, adhering to all traffic laws and school district policies
• Ensure the safety and security of all passengers by enforcing seatbelt use and appropriate behavior during transport
• Assist students with getting on and off the van, including those with special needs
• Report all vehicle maintenance issues or accidents immediately to your supervisor
• Keep van clean and in good condition.
• Keep records of daily routes, students transported, and any incidents or issues
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and school policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Compensation as per the Agreement between Transportation Personnel and the Chambersburg Area School District

Evaluation

Performance of the Van Driver will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Transportation in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluations of support employees.
