Title Corrections Officer: Keen Mountain Correctional Center State Role Title Security Officer III Location Keen Mountain Correctional Center Agency Department of Corrections - Central Administration Job Duties Corrections officers provide for the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates by ensuring effective custody and control, complying with policy and procedure. Officers secure adult inmates at the institution and during transport, supervise daily inmate activities, observe and record behavior and movement to ensure safe confinement. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures, and prepare reports and documentation. Legal right to possess a firearm in Virginia. Ability to complete all pre-employment requirements: medical screening, background check, drug testing, including marijuana screening. Additional Considerations Stable employment history, military or criminal‑justice experience. Preference for individuals at least 21 years old (waiver for 18‑20 available).
