PASAR- Support Specialist

Job Title

Pay Grade: PASAR 822 (Min 226.44 per day) Work Days: As Scheduled

Primary Purpose: To coordinate marketing, recruiting, scheduling of interviews, hiring logistics, planning for Child Care Services events and activities for the PASAR After-School Care Program

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Background in education and/or other youth related fields

Knowledge in the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of personnel

Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and clearly with staff, administrators, applicants and parents, both verbally and in writing

Knowledge of social media and professional networks

Strong public relations and interpersonal skills

Public speaking and ability to deliver effective presentations/ training

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Understand developmentally appropriate practices for the age of children in care

Demonstrate sound judgment when planning for children's safety and health

Understand and show respect for confidentiality of children, parents and staff

Superb computer literacy with capability MS Office, Google Suite, Email, etc.

Ability to manage flexible hours

Strong organizational skills

Experience: Two years of working with children (preferred)

Two years of leadership in education or child care (preferred)

Experience as a manager in recruiting, interviewing and hiring (preferred)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Promote a positive, safe and caring climate for learning and after-school care

Assist/ collaborate in the planning, organization and delivery of new employee training and onboarding requirements

Provide training to all new activity specialists, which includes training prior to working with students

Use traditional and nontraditional resources, such as career fairs, virtual job fairs, social media platforms, to identity and attract quality candidates for Child Care Services positions

Plan, implement and attend career events and job fairs

Respond to the needs and concerns of prospective candidate inquires

Implement strategies to develop and retain employees

Document and study enrollment and staffing trends

Follow the approval process when changing the capacity at a site, including the review and approval process for any enrollment exceeding the capacity

Use appropriate technology to manage record-keeping for the program

Be knowledgeable of district curriculum and individual campus needs to support and implement the program

Strong leadership and team management skills

Demonstrate ability to work on a team in a collaborative environment with all PASAR staff

Serve as the Child Care Services liaison to District Employee Services to complete the hiring and onboarding process of new candidates

Employ an effective communication process that includes listening to all constituents

Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility during overlapping project phases

Demonstrate high expectations and high regard for community, schools, students, and parents

Encourage applicant/staff input to maintain a productive program

Disseminate ideas and information to other professionals; provide leadership in addressing the challenges facing the profession/program

Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments

Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds

Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff and students

Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor

Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor

Perform other functions that may be assigned by administration and/or supervisor
