Material Handler

The Material Handler plays a key role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe handling of inventory throughout the facility. This position is responsible for stocking, picking, and tracking materials, supporting daily production needs, and maintaining organized inventory records while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow all established policies and procedures for inventory handling to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Stock inventory into designated shelf locations in an organized and efficient manner.
• Pick inventory for shipment to customers or repair vendors using a picksheet and ensure correct items and quantities.
• Perform regular inventory cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels and identify discrepancies.
• Research missing parts and investigate inventory issues to resolve discrepancies and support accurate recordkeeping.
• Attend daily production meetings to stay informed about priorities, schedules, and material requirements.
• Operate forklift equipment safely to move, load, and unload materials; certification will be provided if needed.
• Use RF scanners and ERP systems to record inventory transactions and maintain up-to-date data.
• Ensure all inventory items are properly categorized, labeled, and accounted for within the system.
• Lift, move, and handle materials in accordance with OSHA standards and facility safety guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate material flow and resolve issues.
• Manage time efficiently by organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of related material handling, inventory, order picking, or general labor experience and/or training.
• Experience with material handling, picking, inventory management, and order picking processes.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate forklift equipment safely; willingness to obtain certification.
• Proficiency using RF scanners for inventory tracking and transactions.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather information and use data to determine cause and effect for complex problem solving.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and comply with OSHA safety standards.
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• High school diploma or GED.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with typical hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as needed to support production demands. The work takes place in a factory and/or laboratory setting where you regularly maneuver in, around, under, and about equipment. Employees may be frequently required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility throughout the day. The environment emphasizes safe material handling practices, adherence to OSHA standards, and the use of equipment such as forklifts, RF scanners, and ERP systems to support efficient operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Goldsboro, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
