Intern

This is an internship position responsible for working with the assigned department(s) in achieving critical business objectives. The goal of this position is to enable the intern to gain direct experience working in their assigned area(s) while exposing them to multiple facets of the Bank to obtain a general overview of a full-service community Bank.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Support daily administrative operations including interacting with visitors and clients, managing calendars, reserving meeting rooms, handling meeting logistics and providing onsite support as required.
2. Leverage Bank systems to run reports, analyze data, generate graphs and draft slide decks/communications as required.
3. Effectively communicate information and analytical results to various lenders and senior management.
4. Assist with special projects across various department(s) as needed.
5. Become proficient in all aspects of applicable Bank systems and software to ensure turnaround times are within the Bank’s internal service standards.

Compliance:

• Comply with all Bank policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations including, all applicable general lending regulations, staying current and knowledgeable of all policies, procedures and regulations related to the job functions and completing all assigned training on time, requesting additional training as needed to be proficient in all job responsibilities; cooperating with internal and external auditors and bank examiners by providing full cooperation and timely delivery of requested documentation and information; and reporting concerns about compliance to the Compliance Officer to enable prompt remediation.
• Comply with Bank policies and procedures relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) guidance. Report suspicious activity to the BSA Department through a Suspicious Incident Report (SIR).
• Adhere to privacy and information security policies and ensure all sensitive internal and external customer information is properly secured and safeguarded. Use secure methods delivering client and/or confidential data by email.

Qualifications:

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

1. Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field from a college or university and 1 to 2 years prior related experience and/or training in one or more fields of business applicable to the assigned department.
2. Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
3. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
4. High level problem solving skills, organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently with general to minimal supervision.
5. Ability to multi-task and work on multiple requests at the same time while effectively managing work schedule and workflow in order to complete work according to established or identified deadlines.
6. Attention to detail, ensures accuracy in every transaction performed with minimal to no errors, follows through on any corrections.
7. Must be highly competent with advanced skills in computer operation; Microsoft suite of applications, including, word processing, spreadsheet, specialty programs, loan software programs and financial software programs.
8. Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
9. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate thoughts clearly and apply common sense to carry out instructions, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly and professionally to customers and employees. Must be able to communicate throughout the organization and to all levels of staff as well as external contacts.
10. Willingness to learn applicable Bank products and services.
11. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
