Satellite Chemotherapy Nurse

The chemotherapy nurse will be a professional registered nurse who standard chemotherapy and biotherapy agents, research study and non-chemotherapy medications. He/she will administer care to oncology patients as well as with multiple disease process and research study patients.

Accountabilities include:

• Administers standard chemotherapy, research study agents and biotherapy agents, and non-chemotherapy medications.
• Monitors therapeutic responses and side effects, and obtains pharmacokinetic blood samples and other laboratory specimens as required by each protocol.
• Performs assessments and reassessments focusing on the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient in an ongoing timely and systematic manner.
• Coordinates the plan of care with patients, family and interdisciplinary team.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, caregivers and community resources.
• Evaluates patient for improvement after implementation of plan of care to assess for the attainment of goals.
• Consistently maintain complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, employees, computer and other sensitive materials.

Supervision received reports directly to the Nurse Manager. Supervision exercised is none.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current/valid Florida nursing license.
• One year recent oncology nursing experience.
• BLS & ACLS required.
• Recent experience in administering chemotherapy and biotherapy agents.
• Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Administration Guidelines provider course.
• Oncology certification preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven track record of building relationships with physicians, direct reports and key staff.
• Moderate to advanced computer literacy and skills.
