Details Work in a 27-bed General Medicine Unit Care for patients with respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal conditions Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00) Every other weekend required Patient ratio of 1:5 Float within scope of practice per facility float policy Block scheduling cannot be accommodated Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date) Minimum 1 year of RN experience required BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Prior travel nursing experience required Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred Experience with Heparin protocols and PCA pumps Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use Wound care and wound vac experience IV insulin protocol and insulin drip titration experience Renal failure management experience preferred Two professional references required Copies of required certifications must be provided Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required Additional Information Provide direct patient care across a variety of medical conditions on a general medicine unit Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed at submission to determine an appropriate start date No radius restriction for this unit Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility Travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days, regardless of time away First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to required travel experience Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding and recorded in Workday American Traveler Job ID P-748053.
