The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. The Medical Assistants assists the clinician with clinical and administrative aspects of patient care. Performs a variety of technical tasks specified through department specific protocols. Prepares patients for examination, takes vitals, reviews medications and medical history. Documents appropriately in EMR system. Performs a variety of clerical and support functions including patient scheduling, referral management, prior authorizations and maintaining department inventory.

Qualifications:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Experience: In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.
• Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English.
• Bilingual in Spanish is required.
• Experienced in an Urgent Care, ED, or Orthopedics setting.

Regular Standard Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours)

Shift Details: Full time Hand Center Medical Assistant position 8a-430p. No weekends or holidays. Assisting clinically and administratively.
