Area EHS Manager

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven professional to provide leadership and oversight across our Michigan and Ohio facilities. The role may be based at either site or a location between them and requires consistent on-site engagement at both facilities.This position is well-suited for an EHS professional who thrives in building and sustaining effective safety systems, strengthening safety culture and driving continuous improvement beyond regulatory compliance. Experience with, or exposure to OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) principles is highly desirable,ResponsibilitiesProvide multi-site EHS leadership across assigned facilities to ensure consistent execution of company standards and expectationsDrive standardization of EHS systems, processes, tools, and best practices across locationsIdentify performance gaps and implement targeted improvement initiatives across sitesStrengthen and influence a proactive safety culture at all organizational levelsPartner with plant leadership to reinforce accountability and ownership of EHS performanceCoach and mentor leaders and safety committees on hazard recognition, risk reduction, and safety leadership practicesOwn and drive EHS performance metrics, including leading and lagging indicatorsAnalyze EHS data, trends, and risks to support continuous improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulatory requirements and company standardsLead audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations using structured root cause analysis methodsMaintain accurate EHS documentation, records, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting requirementsCollaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and HR to integrate EHS into daily operations and projectsSupport environmental compliance, contractor safety programs, regulatory inspections, and OSHA VPP readiness initiativesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related discipline required5+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environmentsDemonstrated experience implementing, supporting, maintaining, or improving EHS management systemsWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations; OSHA VPP experience or familiarity strongly preferredTravel: Up to 50%Desired Qualities/AttributesStrong understanding of risk-based EHS management systems and hazard control methodologiesProven ability to influence, engage, and develop a strong, sustainable safety cultureLeadership mindset with demonstrated coaching and mentoring capabilitiesHigh attention to detail, particularly in documentation, audits, and regulatory recordkeepingStrong organizational, planning, and follow-through skillsAbility to work independently while effectively partnering with cross-functional teams
