Transportation Supervisor

The position is responsible for supervising employees (drivers and driver assistants) that coordinate services between the kitchen and drivers and controls activities on the dock. Obtain control sheets and assign team drivers to flights daily. Inspect the dock area to verify required equipment and schedule compliance. Confirm teams cater correct aircraft and flights. Ensure all employees comply with safety procedures and Airport Transport Authority badging requirements. Collaborate with management staff to improve unit performance. Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes. Obtain and communicate service requirements and updates from airlines. Maintain radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planner, and leads during operation. Conduct regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment is left behind after flights depart. Secure proper transportation of galleys and maintain vehicle cleanliness. Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Verify airline specifications and ensure accurate documentation. Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet; report maintenance and repair issues promptly. Maintain company policies and specification books for airline customers. Track financial goals related to materials, productivity, overtime, and labor. Prepare management reports (e.g., attendance, HAACCP, labor) as required. Supervise drivers and driver assistants, including performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and corrective actions in coordination with HR and support functions. Manage workflow balances, including assignment of responsibilities and workstations across shifts. Plan daily manpower, addressing staffing needs such as sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, and volume changes. Ensure compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, guaranteeing rest and meal breaks and proper processes. Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to maximize productivity and minimize food expenses. Monitor daily manpower planning and schedules. Focus on employee retention and reduce turnover. Coach, counsel, and prepare corrective actions in compliance with applicable union/collective bargaining agreements. Ensure employees are in correct cost centers and job titles. Ensure union‑represented employees’ pay rates align with wage scales and seniority. Require employees to complete all company-required training, including ServSafe certification. Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and processes. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a high‑volume manufacturing, food production, catering, or restaurant environment. Strong leadership and staff management skills (30+ hourly employees). Labor relations experience is a plus. Ability to train others and provide daily feedback, both positive and negative. Excellent time‑management, organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Innovative mindset and ability to implement operational improvements. Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office. ServSafe certification required; preferred if already certified. Effective communication in English; bilingual fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi, or Polish is a plus.
