Position Family Nurse Practitioner, staff clinician. Type: Full time, permanent. Schedule: Monday to Friday, business hours. Onsite, split between two clinic locations. No weekend requirement. Location: Washington, DC. Onsite. Specialty: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), primary care across the lifespan. Compensation: $125,000 to $140,000 base, depending on experience. About the role A pure clinical role in a primary care model built inside DC public housing. Four small clinics in converted apartments, serving families who have not had dependable access to a provider who knows them. This position splits time across two clinic sites, roughly half time at each, covering a full Monday to Friday schedule. The focus is patient care. There is no administrative or leadership requirement, and support comes from the lead nurse practitioner, an operations lead, a nursing lead, and onsite medical assistants. The panel is predominantly Medicaid, spans children through older adults, and is weighted toward chronic disease management with prevention built in. Appointments are thirty minutes. Key responsibilities Deliver comprehensive primary care across the lifespan at two assigned clinic sites. Provide well child care, immunizations, physicals and preventive screenings. Diagnose, treat and manage acute and chronic conditions, with emphasis on chronic disease management. Manage patients with multiple chronic conditions alongside significant social needs. Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances. Order and interpret onsite labs and point of care testing. Coordinate referrals with specialists, hospitals and community organizations, escalating directly when acuity requires. Provide health education and counseling, with attention to health literacy. Document care accurately in the electronic health record. Work alongside medical assistants and care coordinators as part of a small onsite team. Participate occasionally in community outreach events at your site, which are relationship building rather than clinical. Qualifications Required. MSN, DNP or equivalent advanced nursing degree. Active, unrestricted Washington, DC Nurse Practitioner license, or the ability to hold one before start. Current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification through ANCC or AANP. FNP certification is required because the panel includes pediatric patients. Adult gerontology certification does not meet the requirement for this role. Active DEA registration. One to three years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner. Experience managing chronic disease. Experience with, or clear interest in, Medicaid and underserved populations. Willingness and comfort seeing pediatric patients, primarily well child care, vaccines and physicals. Proficiency with electronic health records. Preferred. Prior community health, federally qualified health center, or public health experience. Recent pediatric exposure. Clinical training in pediatrics is sufficient, and support is available to build further comfort. Familiarity with Medicaid managed care or value based care arrangements. Spanish language skills. Compensation and benefits Base salary of $125,000 to $140,000, set by experience. Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) with monthly reimbursement toward an individual plan purchased through the exchange, currently $300 per month. Paid time off, up to two weeks accrued, plus seven paid holidays. Paid sick leave, accruing from your first day. Continuing education allowance, currently up to $500 per year. Malpractice and liability coverage provided. Washington, DC licensure and DEA registration are the candidate's responsibility and are prerequisites for the role.
