EHS Engineer

Becton Dickinson seeks an Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer for its Canaan, Connecticut manufacturing facility. The role involves leading on-site EHS initiatives, conducting safety investigations, supporting regulatory compliance, and driving sustainability projects while serving as deputy to the EHS Leader.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives and serve as deputy EHS Leader during absences
• Participate in root cause analysis investigations to identify and prevent workplace incidents
• Act as subject matter expert on machine guarding, LOTO, and other critical safety programs
• Join new equipment project teams to provide EHS guidance from design through implementation
• Support ISO 14001 certification efforts and represent the site with regulatory authorities and insurers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, EHS, Occupational Health and Safety, or related engineering discipline
• 3 years of industrial or manufacturing environment experience
• Auditing certification or willingness to pursue one
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills across all organizational levels
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state safety and environmental regulations
• Proficiency in hazard identification, risk assessment, and problem-solving
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and standard databases
