About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years required, acute medical-surgical and telemetry experience License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs Description: Registered Nurses will work in a medical-surgical telemetry unit. Nurses will care for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients. Patient diagnoses include acute and chronic respiratory illness, post-operative general surgery, post-operative general gynecological surgery, total knee and hip replacements, and orthopedic issues. Nurses will manage patients with acute/chronic pain, active GI bleeding, congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, and diabetes-related conditions. Experience with renal failure and drug overdose patients is necessary. Nurses will care for patients with conditions such as a Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) score below 7, suicidal ideation, arrhythmias, and uncontrolled or new onset seizures. Stability in managing and monitoring patients with COVID-19 is important. Nurses will administer IV medication drips such as heparin and total nutrient admixtures. Float between various units may be required. A zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences is enforced. The ability to work nights, rotate weekends, and holidays as needed is important. Preferred charting experience in Epic is beneficial. Candidates should have experience accessing/managing ports, administering blood products, managing chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates must also demonstrate proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and isolation precautions. A commitment to completing compliance on time is mandatory.
