Title: RN Labor & Delivery

Location: Marinette, WI
Duration: 8 Weeks
Schedule: 12-Hour Night Shift (36 Hours/Week) | 6:30 PM 7:00 AM (1830 0700)

Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery Facility Overview

• Location: Marinette, Wisconsin
• Facility Size: 64 Beds
• Trauma Designation: Level III Trauma Center

Unit Information

• Department: Women's Health / OB Services
• Beds: 8 LDRP/Antepartum Beds
• Minimum Experience Required: 2+ Years
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted Upon Review

Patient Population

The Labor & Delivery unit cares for:

• Labor & Delivery patients (>35 weeks gestation)
• Antepartum patients
• Postpartum patients
• GYN Surgical patients
• Newborn patients requiring routine nursery care

Patient Ratios Laboring Patients

• 1:1

Couplet / Antepartum / Surgical Patients

• 1:3

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)

Required Skills

Candidates must be proficient in:

• Labor & Delivery nursing care
• OB Triage
• Non-Stress Tests (NSTs)
• Postpartum Assessments and Care
• Newborn Assessments and Care
• Nursery Care
• Fetal Heart Monitoring Interpretation

Unit Support

• Charge RN (takes patient assignments as needed)
• Resource RN
• Rapid Response Team (RRT) available
• RN responsible for blood draws
• Fetal Heart Monitoring available at:
  • Bedside
  • Nurses' Station
• No telemetry monitoring on the unit
• OB Physician Callback Time: 30 Minutes

Technology & Equipment

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing System: Pyxis

Floating Requirements

May float to inpatient units within scope of practice to:

• Serve as a Sitter
• Assist in a CNA/Patient Care Assistant role

Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• Minimum of one unit-specific orientation shift to learn unit workflow and processes

Scheduling Information Shift

• 12-Hour Nights
• 6:30 PM 7:00 AM (1830 0700)
• 36 Hours per Week

Clinical Interview

• Required

Weekend Requirement

• Every Other Weekend (EOW)

Holiday Requirement

• Rotating Holidays

On-Call

• Varies by contract

Time-Off Requests

• Up to 7 Days Approved
