Registered Nurse, Cardiac Rehab, 36 Hours (Days)

Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse A key member of a multidisciplinary cardiovascular care team, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse provides clinical assessment, telemetry monitoring, emergency response readiness, and coordinated care for patients recovering from cardiac events or procedures. The role promotes safe rehabilitation, lifestyle modification, and collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize cardiovascular health and prevent disease progression. Position Summary The registered nurse adheres to the rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care. Duties include nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient‑care outcomes in accordance with agency policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac rehabilitation patients following cardiac procedures or heart surgery. Perform cardiovascular assessments, including evaluation of coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular disease, and cardiac rhythm disorders. Monitor patients during supervised exercise therapy using continuous ECG telemetry, blood pressure monitoring, and symptom assessment. Interpret ECG rhythms and respond appropriately to arrhythmias and clinical changes. Manage clinical care needs, including IV line placement, medication administration, and infusion pump utilization. Conduct medication reconciliation and provide patient education on cardiovascular medications, risk‑factor modification, and lifestyle management. Educate patients on diabetes management, cardiac risk reduction, and heart‑healthy behaviors. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and monitor individualized exercise therapy plans. Provide rapid assessment and emergency response during exercise sessions; maintain ACLS certification and readiness for cardiac emergencies. Collaborate closely with physicians, electrophysiology staff, behavioral medicine, pharmacy, social work, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care. Maintain ongoing communication with referring providers regarding patient progress and clinical status. Support non‑invasive cardiology services, including assistance with resting and stress echocardiographic procedures as needed. Qualifications Education: Nursing degree (Diploma, ASN, or BSN preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years. Licensure: Current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing. Certificates: Current basic life support (BLS) certification; ACLS certification may be required for some units. Knowledge & Skills: Basic computer proficiency; effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to delegate patient care activities; analytical ability for clinical issues and quality improvement projects. Experience: Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification may be required for certain practice areas. Physical: Ability to meet core job responsibilities and manage stress associated with patient care. Schedule Full Time Compensation Compensation range: $38.05–$79.47 per hour.
