Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position requiring 1+ years of experience and BLS certification.

Job Details

• Hospital Operating Room unit setting,
• Day shift schedule from 0830-1900 with on-call requirements,
• 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week,
• Weekend and holiday shifts on a rotating basis,
• Cares for obstetrical patient population in accordance with department policies,
• EPIC EMR charting experience required,

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience,
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program,
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association,
• IDPH Fingerprinting required,
• License required if applicable,
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures,
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology,
• Basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers as applied to surgical care,
• Demonstrated understanding of perioperative teamwork and sterile technique principles,

Additional Information

• Functions as first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under RN supervision during the intraoperative period,
• Maintains sterile field and applies asepsis principles throughout procedures,
• Assists with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment,
• Participates in room turnover, set-up, and equipment maintenance,
• Performs sterilization and disinfection processes and documents loads per policy,
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self in accordance with hospital policies,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, no local candidates accepted,
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract,
• Contingent workers limited to 1 year of continuous assignment before requiring a 6-month break in service
