Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Registered Nurse in Ambulatory Pediatrics, you will be at the heart of delivering exceptional, compassionate care to children and families during critical moments in their healthcare journey. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young patients' lives while working collaboratively with a dynamic interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will leverage your clinical expertise and nursing process skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that promote optimal health outcomes for pediatric patients across the lifespan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care by utilizing comprehensive assessment, strategic planning, thoughtful implementation, and thorough evaluation of nursing interventions
• Apply the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that address the unique physical, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families
• Provide direct patient care, patient education, and family teaching that empowers families to actively participate in their child's healthcare management and wellness
• Delegate, supervise, and collaborate with nursing and healthcare team members to ensure seamless, coordinated care delivery and optimal patient outcomes
• Demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current evidence-based knowledge in pediatric ambulatory nursing practice
• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory standards and Henry Ford Health policies
• Work independently and collaboratively with principal investigators and clinical teams on quality improvement initiatives and research projects when appropriate
• Demonstrate clinical judgment and analytical abilities to identify patient needs, formulate effective nursing care plans, and adapt interventions based on patient response and changing clinical conditions
• Perform a diverse range of professional nursing services including patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, medication administration support, wound care, and procedural assistance as appropriate to the ambulatory pediatric setting

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Successful completion of Henry Ford Ambulatory orientation.
• Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in area of specialty.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical group personnel. Preferred experience in the specialty. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS or ACLS per Henry Ford Health policy.
• Certification will be required when it is a regulatory requirement in the State of Michigan or a documented community standard, i.e., Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
