About the Opportunity

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you'll be an essential member of the legal team, providing critical support from case intake through trial. Your organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate attorney needs will help keep cases moving efficiently while ensuring deadlines are met and clients receive exceptional service.

What You'll Do

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Manage complex attorney calendars, including hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, court appearances, and filing deadlines
• Coordinate case schedules and maintain deadlines, reminders, and workflow through Clio
• Draft, prepare, proofread, and electronically file pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, subpoenas, exhibits, and other legal documents in Wisconsin state and federal courts
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files throughout every stage of litigation
• Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, and third-party vendors
• Assist with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and other supporting documentation
• Coordinate meetings, depositions, and attorney travel when necessary
• Support attorneys with legal document preparation, administrative projects, and day-to-day litigation needs
• Assist with billing, expense tracking, time entry, and preparation of client invoices
• Ensure all filings, deadlines, and case documentation are completed accurately and on time

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys staying organized, takes ownership of their work, and excels in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications include:

• 2-4 years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm
• Experience with Wisconsin state and federal electronic filing systems
• Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and legal document preparation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Workspace
• Experience with Clio or similar legal practice management software preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding organizational and time management abilities
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple matters simultaneously
• Notary Public certification preferred, or willingness to obtain after hire
