Psychiatrist (MD/DO) - Inpatient (Traverse City)

Job Description

Munson Healthcare and the Behavioral Health team are seeking a BE/BC physician to join our team of inpatient psychiatrists and advanced practice providers. The position involves service on a 17-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit with a 7-on/7-off schedule. The psychiatrist will cover the inpatient unit with one APP, provide weekend consults (limited) and manage home call admissions and cross‑coverage. Residents perform CMS‑required face‑to‑face evaluations overnight, so calling into the hospital is rare. The psychiatrist also leads teaching of third‑ and fourth‑year medical students, family medicine residents, and psychiatry residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care to patients in a 17‑bed adult behavioral health unit.
• Cover weekend consults and manage home call admissions, including cross‑coverage.
• Teach and supervise medical students, family medicine residents, and psychiatry residents.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, including psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, and other providers.
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence‑based practice initiatives.
• Maintain documentation and care plans in the Oracle Health electronic health record.

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
• Michigan medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Valid American Medical Association (AMA) credential and DEA registration.
