Shuttle Driver

Job Description: The Driver's primary responsibility is to safely transport passengers following a designated route with specific times, including picking up passengers and transporting them from their office location to the parking lot or vice versa. Arrive at collection points prior to departure times. Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor at all times and ensure adherence to passenger limits. Perform minor preventative maintenance on vehicles; keep records and prepare reports on matters such as vehicle use and mileage; load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies; and perform related work as required. REPORTS TO : Executive Director of Campus Maintenance and Trades Operations SUPERVISION EXERCISED : None HOURS : Monday through Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Position is governed by the AFSCME college bargaining agreement. Essential Job Duties: Operate motor trucks to pick up, transport and deliver passengers, materials and equipment to designated locations. Operate light motor vehicles to transport passengers or materials to designated locations. Perform minor preventative maintenance to motor vehicles such as checking tire pressure and battery, oil, gas and water levels and correct minor deficiencies. Maintain records and prepare reports on vehicle use, mileage, destinations, accidents, etc. Load and unload materials, furniture, equipment and supplies. Commit to customer satisfaction, with a positive and guest‑focused attitude. Maintain safety standards at all times while transporting passengers. Perform related duties such as contacting appropriate individuals for vehicle maintenance and/or repair and distributing supplies and equipment. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Current and valid Massachusetts Class 1 Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of state laws, rules and regulations governing motor vehicle operation. Knowledge of types, characteristics and uses of motor trucks. Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures relative to motor trucks. Skill in the operation of motor vehicles such as automobiles, panel trucks, vans, station wagons, etc. Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Knowledge of employer-terminology, codes, standard abbreviations and standard procedures followed in operating mobile radio communications equipment. Working Conditions: Shuttle Driver lift and carry heavy objects. May work varied shifts and weekends, holidays, or nights. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions.
