In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the residents we serve; the Medical Records Coordinator is responsible in representing the company in a positive manner while maintaining the medical records in an organized manner. Works in close coordination and cooperation with all areas of nursing.
Assist nursing in organizing, implementing and performing administrative procedures.
Organize and complete medical records of discharged residents.
Organize and evaluate medical records and health information for completeness and accuracy.
Make sure that residents’ medical charts are complete, that all forms are completed and properly identified and signed, and that all necessary information is in the computer and every page of residents’ chart.
Copy records and send out requests for records when presented with a properly completed medical release.
Pull charts as needed for special audits and billing.
Contact discharged patients, their families and physicians to maintain registry with follow-up or missing information.
Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the supervisor.
Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
Answers and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas.
Reports all resident concerns to the appropriate department head.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
Communicate with other employees in a private and respectful manner.
Work and be proficient with certain computer systems designated by the company.
