Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 3x12-hour shifts, alternating days and nights | Day shift: 7:00–19:30 | Night shift: 19:00–7:00

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to infant, pediatric, and adolescent patients in a 6-bed PICU setting, managing diagnoses such as respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Manage patients requiring moderate sedation, continuous drips, arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Operate and monitor ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP equipment; interpret ABGs and manage chest tubes
• Perform dysrhythmia interpretation and management, including ICP monitoring and administration of anti-seizure medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous sedation
• Calculate and administer pediatric dosages accurately and safely
• Float to Pediatrics and Pediatric ED as needed, within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Valid Maryland RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
• BLS/BCLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Basic EKG exam required
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records required
• Local candidates are welcome

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for ventilated pediatric patients and managing acute airways
• Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and chest tube management
• Experience with ICP monitoring and continuous sedation management
• Comfort with pediatric dosage calculations and IV vasopressor administration
