As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, job knowledge and leadership.POSITION SUMMARYThe Paint Shop Lead is responsible for leading a team of individuals and assure materials are processed and ready for the painting and loading process in the correct sequence specified to meet delivery deadlines.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, ProductionInterpret blueprints to paint structural steelMaintain current and accurate inventory of stock materials & suppliesAssure accurate paint mills are being applied to meet the job specific requirementsDistribute sequence lists to loaders and ensure they are loading the correct materialEnsure PPE is supplied and worn correctlyVerify machine operators are checking material for accuracy of cleanlinessEnsure that truck loaders are in safety compliance with proper loading techniquesEnsure all safety features are functioning properly on machines and paint equipmentLead and train all painters, operators and loadersAct as a positive leader while leading teams and maintaining business relationshipsMaintain appropriate confidentiality of all Cooper Steel business affairs, internally and outside of the companyOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or equivalent3-5 years prior experience in a related fieldOTHER SKILLSStrong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others.While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 50 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.WORK ENVIRONMENTPosition performs work mostly in the Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.
