DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
At Health & Human Services, we serve our community through the values of support, unity, trust and excellence with one common goal: to promote and protect the health, well-being, safety and self-sufficiency of all in Marin. Join our team of bright, committed, and energetic people who also want to make an impact through public service.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Marin Department of Health and Human Services is seeking two (2) experienced and mission-driven Supervising Public Health Nurses (Supervising PHNs) to lead key programs serving children, youth, and families across the continuum of care. These two (2) full-time, regular (1 FTE) positions offer a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen public health programs that support vulnerable populations, advance health equity, and improve outcomes through prevention, care coordination, and system collaboration.

Under general direction, the Supervising PHNs provides clinical and administrative leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering community-based public health services. These roles are responsible for providing recommendations concerning the Family Health programs. The roles will provide recommendations and may implement program infrastructure, strengthen community partnerships, build and maintain staffing capacity, and ensure quality and compliance.

Supervising PHNs oversee daily program operations; provide supervision, coaching, and performance management to staff; ensure compliance with State and federal regulations; and promote high-quality, culturally responsive, and client-centered care. These positions play a critical role in advancing continuous quality improvement efforts and supporting staff through evolving program and system changes.

Both positions operate in a collaborative, rebuilding environment and require leaders who are strategic, adaptable, and hands-on. Supervising PHNs work closely with internal partners and external stakeholders-including Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (e.g., Partnership HealthPlan of California and Kaiser HealthPlan), Federally Qualified Health Centers, and community-based organizations-to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.

The Department of Health and Human Services is committed to promoting and protecting the health and well-being of all Marin residents. We prioritize equity, prevention, and community partnership in our work and strive to create meaningful, lasting impact for the populations we serve. These roles offer the opportunity to lead with purpose, support dedicated teams, and influence systems of care at both the programmatic and community levels.

These recruitments will fill two distinct Supervising Public Health Nurse positions:
  • Position 1: Oversees California Children's Services (CCS), Health Care Program for Children Foster Care (HCPCFC), and CalAIM/Juvenile Justice initiatives, serving low-income children with complex medical conditions and youth involved in foster care and juvenile justice systems. This role supervises approximately 5-8 staff, including Senior PHNs, support service workers, and leads CalAIM initiatives for children and youth.
  • Position 2: Oversees the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) and HFM Home Visiting Program, serving pregnant individuals, new mothers, and young families. This role supervises approximately 3-5 staff, including Support Workers, and leads key initiatives such as CLPPP and Healthy Families Marin Home Visiting.

The positions are based at the office and in the community.
If invited to participate in a first-round interview, it is tentatively scheduled for June 15, 2026.
If invited to participate in a second-round interview, it is tentatively scheduled for June 23, 2026.
