ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Marin Department of Health and Human Services is seeking two (2) experienced and mission-driven Supervising Public Health Nurses (Supervising PHNs) to lead key programs serving children, youth, and families across the continuum of care. These two (2) full-time, regular (1 FTE) positions offer a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen public health programs that support vulnerable populations, advance health equity, and improve outcomes through prevention, care coordination, and system collaboration.
Under general direction, the Supervising PHNs provides clinical and administrative leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering community-based public health services. These roles are responsible for providing recommendations concerning the Family Health programs. The roles will provide recommendations and may implement program infrastructure, strengthen community partnerships, build and maintain staffing capacity, and ensure quality and compliance. Supervising PHNs oversee daily program operations; provide supervision, coaching, and performance management to staff; ensure compliance with State and federal regulations; and promote high-quality, culturally responsive, and client-centered care. These positions play a critical role in advancing continuous quality improvement efforts and supporting staff through evolving program and system changes.
Both positions operate in a collaborative, rebuilding environment and require leaders who are strategic, adaptable, and hands-on. Supervising PHNs work closely with internal partners and external stakeholders-including Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (e.g., Partnership HealthPlan of California and Kaiser HealthPlan), Federally Qualified Health Centers, and community-based organizations-to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.

ABOUT YOU OUR HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATE
Our highly qualified candidate has a broad range of professional level experience with program development and management of State/Federal Grants, claims, quality improvement program management. The candidate is versed with the challenges of working with at-risk children and families and is knowledgeable in tenets of trauma-informed care, strength-based and family-centered care to promote nurturing parent-child relationships, enhancing family functioning and promoting healthy child growth and development.
Our highly qualified candidate has a solid understanding of/or experience supervising and motivating staff, particularly in stressful work environments. They have knowledge of infant and child development, is culturally sensitive, able to manage change and demonstrate good communication skills and critical thinking skills. The successful individual must be able to establish effective collaborative relationships and provide quality assurance/Improvement direction for the staff and program. The highly qualified candidate has experience in utilizing evidence-based and reflective practice and/or Healthy Families America Supervisor Training.

This role supervises approximately 5-8 staff, including Senior PHNs, support service workers, and leads CalAIM initiatives for children and youth.
- Position 2: Oversees the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) and HFM Home Visiting Program, serving pregnant individuals, new mothers, and young families. This role supervises approximately 3-5 staff, including Support Workers, and leads key initiatives such as CLPPP and Healthy Families Marin Home Visiting.
The positions are based at the office and in the community.
