Behavior Intervention Specialist Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program. Position Type: Classified Support Staff/Behavior Intervention Specialist Date Posted: 6/23/2026 Location: Wildflower Accelerated Academy Calendar: 10 Months; 40 hrs/week Reports to: Alternative school teacher(s) and/or Alternative School Coordinator Qualifications Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred. Knowledge of child development concepts and practices. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card. Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (offered at the district). First Aid and CPR training certification (offered at the district). Must be able to pass a background check upon employment. Duties and Responsibilities Work intensively with students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom and immediately deal with individual student behavioral/emotional problems. Communicate reality‑based problem solving techniques to students. Complete and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification. Complete and maintain First Aid and CPR training certification. Assist in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students. Assist teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive, off task, or exhibiting other emotional needs, which are interfering with the student's progress within the classroom. Prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of logs, reports, files, reviews, etc. Escort children to the bus, time‑out, the nurse's office, and across campus. Facilitate decision‑making and communication between students and teachers. Follow District Policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
