JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision, lead, direct the work of journeyman electricians, provide technical guidance in the performance of this work. Provide training to staff, perform work quality and scope completeness inspections; keep abreast of technology changes within the industry, serve as a technical resource and train staff on evolving technological advances in this field. Perform the work of a journeyman Electrician as assigned. Function as electrical technical resource and subject matter expert for other trades, such as, capital projects scope development, project managers, campus committees related to electrical issues—electrical capacity needs, emergency power, campus conversion to electrical appliances and equipment moving away from natural gas. Employees at this level have advisory authority over other employees and are expected to exercise independent judgment on final decisions regarding the quality or quantity of work produced by such employees.CORE DUTIES
Under the general direction of and reporting to the Assistant Director of Electrical Systems, the Electrical Systems Process Control Lead provides leadership, direction, compliance in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operations of building electrical systems and advises, assists with the development of strategic plans to further improve the effectiveness and reliability of electrical systems and corresponding electrical construction standards. Provide guidance, training, oversight, and perform work in all facets of electrical systems. Develop work scopes for contracted work; provide field coordination, work quality oversight for contracted work related to building access systems. Assist with development of electrical systems design, renewal, future selection criteria, development of systems standards, operational processes and goals. Assist with the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical building systems; perform troubleshooting and provide troubleshooting guidance and training to staff. Assess staff work quality and timeliness providing staff performance feedback to the Assistant Director for Electrical Systems. Assist with evaluation of electrical systems options, systems standards / explanation of standards. Provide system operation training to staff. Provide cost estimates for systems, system installations, modifications. Keep current with evolving technology in the electrical building systems field providing recommendations for specific systems in specific applications, systems upgrades, existing systems replacement with appropriate justification. Keep current with applying computer software and tools to the electrical systems including MS Office such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Office such as Google Docs, Sheets, etc.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience Five years’ experience performing the characteristic duties described at the Building Access Systems Process Control Lead level. Demonstrated experience in performing advanced level work in electrical systems design, troubleshooting, maintenance, electrical code interpretation, electrical safety compliance at the Process Control Lead level or combination of relevant education and experience. Minimum Qualifications In addition to the qualifications required for the Process Control Instrumentation Specialist, the Process Control Instrumentation Leader classification requires that employees be highly skilled in the tasks they direct and be able to solve task-related problems. Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and communicate those instructions to others. Must be familiar with site environmental and safety rules, regulations, and requirements. Must be familiar with the code requirements related to work in assigned responsibility areas/trades May be required to have demonstrated ability to write clear diagrams, operating instructions, and manuals. Provide expert level technical guidance to colleagues at all levels on electrical issues, troubleshooting, project scope development. Certifications and Licenses Valid California Class C Non-commercial Driver’s License. Preferred California Licensed Electrician Degree in Electrical Engineering Electrical Contractor’s licensePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class C Driver’s License. Frequently stand/walk, sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation. Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, scrub/sweep, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh greater than 40 pounds.WORKING CONDITIONS
May be required to work overtime, evenings and weekends, including Holidays, sometimes in inclement weather conditions. May perform work on elevated surfaces, in confined spaces and noisy environments, and/or around high voltage electricity and other hazards. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, heavy metals, asbestos, and/or radiation or electromagnetic fields. May be required to be on call 24/7. Required to wear appropriate uniform. Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as needed.WORK STANDARDS

Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Internal candidate rates will be applied based on the CBA language for promotion and transfer.
