Position Overview

The Facility & Equipment Lead is responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and operational readiness of the local manufacturing plant and all production equipment. This role oversees both preventive and corrective maintenance programs, manages equipment performance, and directs all facility-related infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural construction projects. The position ensures total compliance with safety and local regulatory standards, supports continuous production operations, and drives process improvements to maximize equipment uptime, minimize operational risks, and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Infrastructure Management: Direct all facility maintenance activities, including electrical, plumbing, commercial HVAC, compressed air systems, and overall building infrastructure.
• Equipment Reliability: Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for all manufacturing and automation equipment to maximize runtime.
• Project Management: Coordinate and manage local facility expansions, construction, structural renovations, and capital improvement projects.
• Vendor & Contractor Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for external service providers, municipal utility representatives, equipment manufacturers, and third-party contractors.
• Asset & Inventory Control: Maintain detailed maintenance schedules, lifecycle logs, and a structured inventory of critical spare parts to ensure zero production downtime.
• Budgeting: Develop and manage the facility and equipment maintenance budget, identifying cost-saving initiatives without sacrificing infrastructure integrity.
• Emergency Response: Lead the local emergency response for facility crises, including power disruptions, utility failures, or structural safety hazards.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain total facility compliance with local building codes, fire safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and life safety emergency systems.
• Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and daily direction to maintenance technicians and equipment engineers.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field (equivalent senior-level industrial experience will be considered).
• Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in facility management, heavy equipment maintenance, or industrial plant operations.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced hands-on knowledge of industrial electrical systems (NEC compliance), commercial HVAC, industrial plumbing, and automated production machinery.
• Project Execution: Proven track record of managing facility construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and factory start-up phases.
• Systems Acumen: Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or SAP/ERP systems to track work orders, asset histories, and KPIs (such as MTTR and MTBF).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with US safety standards, local fire/building codes, NFPA guidelines, and environmental compliance regulations.
• Leadership: Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and scheduling a team of technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with cross-functional plant leadership and external vendors.
