This position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU. Protecting and Building Safer, Healthier, Stronger Communities. The Specialty Court Coordinator will support the operations of district court specialty courts, including drug courts, by ensuring program effectiveness and success addressing clients' ancillary needs in the areas of medical, housing, employment, and vocational skills. Works with team members from treatment, community supervision, and law enforcement to ensure compliance with the key components of Specialty Courts. Serves as a liaison between the Specialty Court and other departments making program referrals, collecting, and reporting data for future grant funding in compliance with Trial Court policies. Works under the direction from the Chief Probation Officer or their designee.• May reports on participants progress from Community Corrections Centers (CCC) classes. • Attends and participates in weekly Specialty Court meetings and staffed sessions. • Acts as a contact person between the Specialty Courts and treatment and recovery support providers. • Ensures program effectiveness and success, creating interagency linkages to address clients' ancillary needs in the areas of medical, housing, employment, and vocational skills planning. • Collaborates with team members from treatment, community supervision, and law enforcement to ensure compliance with the program goals of each specialty court. • Monitors data collection monthly, quarterly, and annually. • Prepares fiscal and programmatic reporting to the funding entity. • Seeks grant funding as necessary. • Performs other duties as required. Conducts oneself in a courteous and professional manner towards both Trial Court employees and the public. Communicates and demonstrates the ethics and values of the Trial Court. Employees are fully committed to fulfilling the Trial Court and associated Departmental missions. Employees are committed to participating in ongoing Trial Court training and educational offerings to advance their professional development. Understands Drug Court principles and understands the training programs and professional development needs of the staff participating in the Specialty Court. Utilizes the best available information to successfully plan and achieve positive future training goals and objectives of the Specialty Court. Promotes an environment of diversity through understanding, respect, and positive communication with persons of varied racial, ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Understands the value and importance of performance measures as a basis for both individual and departmental assessments. Works with others cooperatively, demonstrating a willingness to be a team player, and contributing to a work environment that focuses on shared departmental goals.Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university • Five (5) years of related work experience • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications. Knowledge of: • Substance use disorder services and working with substance-involved client populations and court-involved populations. • Experience using personal computers, including MS Word and MS Excel. • Community resources and services. • Procedures and policies governing court sessions. • Massachusetts Court System and the Office of Community Corrections. Skill in: • Interpersonal skills. • Organization and time management. • Attention to detail. • Customer service. • Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to: • Learn Court procedures and policies governing court sessions. • Establish effective working relationships with others. • Serve the public and others with business with the court in a courteous and professional manner. • Work professionally with staff, court officials, corrections officials, clinical providers, judges and others. • Initiate and carry out projects with a high degree of independence. • Organize work, prioritize assignments. • Establish clear work expectations and standards. • Ability to work well under pressure and within limited time frames. • Ability to travel throughout the Commonwealth. This position serves as a lead worker to others. Work is frequently performed in office or similar indoor environments. This position requires sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
