Job Summary A mammography technologist is responsible for performing screening and ensuring quality control (QC) in the imaging process. They work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to accurately capture and interpret breast images for early detection of breast cancer. Primary duties include positioning patients, operating mammography equipment, and maintaining patient records. They are also responsible for maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure accurate, high-quality images, adhering to safety protocols, and providing compassionate care to patients during the screening process. THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR A HIRING BONUS UP TO $12,000.00 Apply By August 7, 2026 at 11:59 pm; Interviews may be held any time Minimum Qualifications Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR Valid CRT Mammography (M) CA State Certificate ARRT Mammography Certificate Applicant must be up to date on State requirements for Mammography Performance Digital 8 hour 2D and 3D Certificate Valid CRT (Diagnostic Radiologic Technology) CA State License American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or UC Davis Health CPR No minimum education requirement No minimum work experience Comprehensive understanding of essential Mammography imaging and knowledge of radiology equipment, supplies, and drugs Ability to operate radiographic and auxiliary equipment to produce a quality image; adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades Physical ability to perform all functions of a mammography technologist Ability to prioritize workload to produce a sufficient volume of work in a timely manner Demonstrates responsibility and dependability (attendance, punctuality, positive attitude, initiative in duties) Knowledge and ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting and transporting patients and moving radiology equipment Preferred Qualifications A.S. in Radiologic Science/Radiologic Technology 1 year of experience in Mammography Key Responsibilities 90%: General Mammography Technologist Duties 10%: General Department Functions and additional Mammography Technologist Duties Department Overview The UC Davis Department of Radiology performs imaging and therapeutic procedures for patients throughout Northern California. Services include routine and specialized imaging studies, interventional procedures, and neuro-interventional services. The department emphasizes education, imaging-related research, and professional development of students, residents, fellows, and staff. Department Specific Job Scope Responsibilities are guided by established procedures and protocols; quality of work is reviewed by the Lead Mammography Technologist, Quality Control Technologist, Supervisor, or radiologist. The technologist operates various Mammography equipment to provide diagnostic images for interpretation, maintains equipment per manufacturers’ manuals, and adheres to department protocols and policies. The role requires initiative, the ability to work calmly in stressful situations, and collegial interaction with radiologists and clinicians.
