Manufacturing Process Engineering Technician — Muskegon County, MI

Picture the start of your weekend shift: you arrive on the floor, scan the productivity and status boards, sync with supervisors across shifts, and jump straight into clearing a bottleneck that’s slowing throughput. You rally operators, confirm the right materials are at each station, and partner with engineering to validate a tooling tweak. By mid-shift, flow is restored and you’ve documented the root cause so it won’t happen again. That’s a typical day as our Manufacturing Process Engineering Technician.

Compensation and Schedule

• Pay: $25.50/hr (non-negotiable)
• Openings: 4 total — 2 weekend days and 2 weekend nights
• Location: Muskegon County, MI

Why this role matters

In this role, you serve as the connective tissue between engineering, manufacturing, and supporting functions to maintain the continuous flow of parts, materials, and information through the plant. You support process control, tooling, and continuous improvement, always with an eye toward increasing velocity and reducing cost.

How you operate

• Perspective — Anticipates where flow may break down; mines data for root causes to inform process decisions.
• People support — Keeps information moving between supervisors and operators; communicates updates on issues and resolutions across the plant.
• Coordination — Works as a true team player with engineering and manufacturing; balances today’s production priorities with long-term improvements.
• Influence — Partners with engineering to advance tooling, NPI, and process enhancements; clarifies risk in process deviations and variations.
• Organization and structure — Ensures workstations are stocked and boards are current; handles out-of-cycle tasks without disrupting production.
• Communication and relationship — Builds trust with operators, supervisors, and engineers; communicates clearly across shifts.
• Ownership — Drives issues to root cause; champions continuous improvement and cost reduction.
• Troubleshooting — Applies structured problem-solving to protect throughput; escalates when needed to maintain smooth operations.

What you’ll take on

• Act as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and other functions to expedite product flow.
• Resolve issues using problem-solving techniques and close them at the root cause to protect velocity.
• Identify constraints proactively and recommend improvements or cost reductions in the production process.
• Collaborate with engineering to drive tooling, NPI, and process improvements.
• Support data collection and analysis to uphold process control.
• Coordinate information flow: review shift reports, align with supervisors on focus areas, communicate material requests, and provide timely updates on issues and resolutions.
• Keep workstations stocked via material replenishment.
• Serve operations by handling out-of-cycle tasks (raw materials, parts, waste removal, moving kanban cards, updating electronic productivity and status boards, missing instructions, quality issues).
• Partner with engineering to assess the risk of process deviations and variations.

QualificationsBasic

• Minimum of an Associate degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of one year of experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).

Preferred

• 2 years of work experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Understanding of production processes and manufacturing related metrics.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
